XRechnung is a pure XML invoice format mandated for invoices to German public authorities (Bund, Länder, Kommunen). It implements the European semantic model EN 16931 with Germany-specific business rules (BR-DE) validated via Schematron.
Invoices must include buyer reference (Leitweg-ID) for public contracts, seller and buyer VAT IDs where applicable, and line-level tax breakdowns. Tentaco provides free browser validators that run KoSIT-aligned rules locally.
