PDF/A-3 is an ISO archival subset that embeds arbitrary file types — typically EN 16931 XML for European e-invoicing. Human-readable PDF and machine XML travel together.
German XRechnung often ships as PDF/A-3 with embedded XML. Tentaco validates ZUGFeRD/Factur-X constraints and EN 16931 rules locally in Document Studio.
